What engine is in it?

1300 petrol

There is an engine speed sensor on top of the gearbox held in with a 10mm bolt, if this failed the engine will not start. You could take it out and try cleaning it. The only real way to prove that it is faulty is by replacing it, as without the engine running they will always show a fault code. Have you checked all the fuses? There is a fuel pump relay as well, try swapping them in the fusebox as there are a few that are the same and some of them do non crtical things like the heated rear window. The car has an immobiliser, the key hasn't been to bits and the transponder lost?
