Red blinking door led always on

Featured Replies

After replacing all of my door membranes the last door i did was the drivers side now wen i lock the car the red light dosent blink now and is always on all the time.

I am plauged with bad luck on this car as it gets worse....

There i was re-fitting the door card to the drivers door which i had slightly open, I then realised i needed to get a screw driver from the passenger side footwell as i was leaning over to get it....BANG....CRASH.....CRYING!

I look up to find a kid had rode into my door and put a dint in the panel and a nice scratch!

What a day!

Wouldnt be the kid riding into the door thats made the little red light stay on would it?

What a nightmare

Could the LED connectors have been plugged in the wrong way round?

I don't think so; LEDs, like any other diode, only flow electricity one way.

This could be a problem with the central convenience unit or associated wiring loom.

Is the LED on or blinking while the car is being driven? Any other unusual symptoms like not all the doors responding when car is locked or unlocked? Are both door mirrors responding to electric adjustment?

Thanks, The LED is not lit whilst driving and is never lit, The rear passenger side door never opens or closes on the locking but all other 3 doors and boot do.

The electric window on that same door does not respond to the button on the drivers door control panel but it will work from the switch on the actual door itself.

The lights left on warning buzzer sounds like morse code and not a constant beep.

The interior light flashes on and off when opening drivers door (the other doors its fine and stays on)

And yes Both Mirrors move outwards when trying to adjust them.

Are we onto something here?

I have just got the following bits from a same year octy withthe same interior electrics...

Full drivers door loom, Drivers door window mechanism with the control unit, Drivers control console for the windows and the Central Convenience Unit.

Thanks for any pointers on this i am going to fit these parts and just hope it sorts it out as i cant think what else it can be.

Sorry to bump an old thread but I have this problem now. Just fitted new speakers, touch wood not done anything damaging just yet but when I put the drives side door card back together & locked the car...th red light stayed on! :(

As far as I am aware I haven't hit anything or pulled anything incorrect out, I had a chunky block connector around the door grab handle area which didn't seem to plug into anything but didn't think much more of it.

Can anyone advise? :(

what colour was the connector you had 'spare'? I'm having problems with my electrics too(my led works as it should though)

had the driver door card off the other day. the only connector in the grab handle area was the brown one for windows and locks, about half inch square ish and light brown. there is a bigger connector that goes on the window motor( think that was black and about half inch by 2- 2 and half inches iirc)

If i get a chance i'll have a look at mine in a bit when kids go to bed(7 ish)
