Recommended Locks for Octavia VRS

Featured Replies

As some of you may know, I'm ordering my new VRS tomorrow. When I get it I am going to put a CAT 1 Toad alarm on to complement the immobiliser. However, I was wondering what internal locks you guys use and what you would recommend.

Have heard Multi-Locks are quite good, but they seem intrusive. Does anyone know if Barrier Systems are still in business. They used to do a good deadlock, but I can't find them on the web.

Cheers

I thought the octy and furby vrses came with deadlocks

re installation of alarm, the general concensus is get a local dealer who you can trust. A lot of national companies have a team of bodged installers from what a lot of people say. Tend to put self tapping screws through wiring looms, etc

Disclock & Bag.

As good as it gets and the bag has velcro which sticks nicely to the boot carpet so you can store it out of the way. :)

disclok vote number two, i even have a silver one to match the colour of the car... yes i know i am a tart !

Re alarm: I went down the same route, but i wanted a system that could be run from the roiginal keyfob so not to have too many fobs etc for the car keys. Toad offer one (cant remember the name) and then theres a company called Sigma, Sigma actually own Toad and produce their own systems. i went for the Sigma M32 in the end. Its a cat 1 alarm + immob that runs off the cars standard central locking system and thus the standard keyfob.

I had mine fitted by an approved installer that was listed on Toads / Sigma's website and they came out to fit the system to the car while i was at work.

I think the total cost was

Cheers guys.

The toad alarm I was offered by the local car stereo/security fitters (who I've used before and trust) also programmed into the original key. Was quoted

Info on the disklok can be found on the company's website below:

Delivery is free if you order from Disklok UK direct and you get a free bag for the device too. However I don't know if the price is competitive.

The disklok is the only steering lock worth getting. There is a test of them on the autoexpress web site. The disklok was the only one that lasted more than about a minute against attack if I recall correctly.

PS. I guess I'm also a tart as I have a silver one... ;)

Disklok for me as well..

I had one fitted to my Leon Cupra when it got stolen....

As they had already nicked my keys it sort of defeated the lock ...

Visual deterent and a major pain to remove without a key.. Bargain

Just rethinking the alarm idea...don't like the idea of someone ripping the inside of my brand new car apart to fit an alarm...How safe do you think it would be without one?

I am told that the immobiliser should be enough to stop anyone having it away, and people tend not to take any notice of alarms anyway...

Any input much appreciated.

A Pro fitter will not need to "rip" the car to bits.

Fusebox & glovebox out, and other wiring is hidden behind trim ;)

Depending on your age and location, some insurance companies might request that you have a CAT 1 fitted...

If someone really wants your car nowadays, they will jus steal your keys, hijack u or jus tow it away.

Dont think the disclok is goin to b much of a deterrant.

Correct me if i'm wrong tho! :)

BTW i'm goin Clifford b4 anyone asks.

main reason i went for mine was the insurance dropped the price slightly for me having it fitted. they also said i HAD to have a cat immob and i dont think the standard one is cat 1, could be wrong though.

The dealers i used are mobile and like i said fitted these units to all the west mids police octy's... this was good enough for me, and the job (as i said) is top notch.

I cant see how a solid steel disc covering a steering wheel can be a waste of time and money !? surely any visible deterrant is worth the money and they dont get much more visible than the disclok !

Have an alarm installed in mine, you wouldnt know they dismantled the lower part of the dash on the drivers side to fit it. I didnt even know where it was till the cruise control was fitted a few weeks ago.

The same logic applies to an alarm if they get hold of your keys...
