filter???

Featured Replies

my fabia is a little smokey when the turbo kicks in, ive read this is normal for these cars, but im sure ive read somewhere that there is some kind of cleanable/changeable filter which helps with this??

am i going mad or is this right, and if so where is it/how do u get at it??

thanks in advance

Search for a Green filter or pipercross

As Decron says, do a search. To be honest, there aint much difference performance wise between the different panel filters. Induction kits sound nice, but in my experience, i suffered HUGE heat-soak and lost a good bit of power. I'm now running a pipercross panel filter with a PD160 intake. Yes i miss the "sooky" noise of the induction kit, but i dont miss the loss of power.

But, each to their own i suppose.......

let me see if ive got this right. these filters are just the air filter replacements/upgrades?????

there is no extra filter anywhere????

so i can just clean the normal air filter. and is this what is refered to as a pannel filter??

so to seem so stupid but my first fabia and have never had a pd engine, last car was a 1995 golf tdi estate lol

cheers again

Just get a new OEM paper one. The service schedule has them replaced at 40k, which is stupid. This is what my last one looked like after 15k:

I defy anyone to demonstrate any benefit of a panel filter over a paper one replaced every 10k (not least as a panel filter will need oiling and thus puts your MAF at risk if you overdo it...)

cheers guys, mines goin in for its annual service shortly so it will be changed then

ta again

"I defy anyone to demonstrate any benefit of a panel filter over a paper one replaced every 10k"

- cost.

With annual mileage 25K+ break even comes in a couple of years.

I wash my pipercross every 5K (why not it's so easy and quick) so it's like having a new filter in all the time.

For you , maybe. £9 for OEM vs £33 for your PX means many people will have sold the car on before break-even...
