Looking round the web for N95 apps, I came across this. I can confirm this works perfectly.

follow the instructions in the first post and you are away. You will need to uninstall tomtom if you already have it installed.

Two things to keep in mind.

1) You need to run gpsd everytime before you start tomtom.

2) Tomtom forgets the settings, so you need to reselect the GPS emulator each time you start tomtom.

sounds like a pita, why not just use the nokia maps software that works perfectly fine anyway?

I managed to obtain Garmin MobileXT which works perfectly with the built in GPS and is very similar to tomtom.
