looks like my standard octavia vrs engine has shot it (knackered oil pump)

if the engine is shot it i would like to upgrade to the 225 bam engine

i would like some help on what i need to buy eg full engine ecu and other bits

what about a straight swap for the standard engine

Depends on whos doing it and what you want.

Salvage AUQ engine about £1k all in, £800 for a local mech to fit it.

yeah, 1k for normal engine, 2k for BAM with NO extra's at all is normal.

Unless you manage to buy a Golf with an APX in it for £1500...lol

Yeah exactly the same.

AMK is from the facelift S3 which is 210bhp and has mechanical VVT. BAM is 225bhp and electronic VVT.

I thought the AMK didn't have VVT and the BAM did. I dont know how VVT works without electronic control. AMK has the same head and cam chain tensioner as my APX.

when i was buying my engine last year they were 2k for just the block!

I've been calling around a lot lately for a s3/tt lump for my mk2. The going rate is 1500 quid for everything to do a conversion. However, I'm not 100% sure but I don't know if it would be possible to just swap most of the stuff over from the auq to the other motor and then have your ecu re-flashed with a custom map. I know some people have done this in MK4 Golfs. So I see know reason it couldn't be in there and running for around 2k ish.

Depends on which 225 engine you have BAM engines have extra sensors for exhaust gas temp and a ew other systems that the AUQ doesnt so the OEM ECU wont be able to run with them.

What's the APX?

What's the difference between the APX and the BAM then? Am I being thick? :)

Age, APX was out first, few revisions in software, second lambda probe, vvt and air injection added to BAM iirc. Not much.
