Fabia 2005 Inner door panel removal

Featured Replies

Hi there!

Just been around reading a lot of the threads regarding door card/trim removal and the door/light microswitch malfunction, but I couldn’t find up to now regarding the inner aluminum door panel.

I got to the point where I could remove the door cover, but now I have the door stripped down and I need to access the lock mechanism in order to replace or repair the microswitch; as I can see, it’s riveted to the door. (pic#1)

I found out while removing the panels that at the "stealers", they retrofitted about 3.5 yrs ago, some cheap aftermarket lock motors (blue in the picture) and that they did an awful job with the wiring which caused a short circuit (seemed that my car was poltergeist with the dome lights randomly flashing!). :asthanos:

Besides all of that, one of the cables of the microswitch came loose (pic#2).

Any threads someone can point so I can finish my door´s teardown? :)

Thanks and sorry for the cell-cam pics . lol

Thnx 4 the link Heinz, didn´t see that repair post, nice pics

Regarding the kit, I know, the B*stards told me they used the "original skoda branded" motors for the doors

Anyways, Im pretty worried about the rivets, cause all the doors Ive seen around have screws... Although, I asked a tech today (the dark side of the stealers shop) about the standard mechanism, he told me he has seen both, rivets and screws...

Still, looks fishy to me, cause I noticed little shreds of metal/aluminum inside the doors panel and around the rivets, making me suspect those aint factory-installed.

Im gonna b around my new shop this weekend and Im gonna stick around when they tear-apart the door and take some pics with my new cam

Thanks 4 the quick replies and I´ll keep you guys updated !

Cheers!
