Paint Warranty

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

After a few searches it seems my car (53plate) Fabia vRS should still be covered under the paint warranty.

At the moment there's what appears to be a bubble in the paint, as if it's rusted from the inside, but the outer layer of paint in undamaged, so it's not a stone chip.

It's on the tailgate.

Should i take it to a dealer and let them look at it ?

Or indeed, is this the correct thing to do ?

Exactly the same thing has happened on my 07 octavia vrs . I took mines to dealers were they took pictures to send to skoda uk ,who then sent them to a technician at the factory to see if its a comon problem . Mines is booked into the local Audi bodyshop for tuesday to get rectified .. there would be no harm in taking it to the dealers and getting them to take a look they will be able to advise you further..

Thanks Allan.

I presume it could be any Skoda dealer ?

yeah any skoda dealer should be able to sort it for you .. where abouts on the tailgate is the damage ?. mines is just under the octavia badge in the crease that runs across the tailgate ..:( i find out on monday what my courtesy car will be i have been told the repair will take 4-5 days .

It's about an inch up from the bottom lip of the tailgate, inline with the green part of the vRS badge.

It's about the size of a drawing pin head.

Should i get a courtesy car then ? :D

yes you should get a courtesy car as long as its warranty work . you may have to request one though and make it clear that you use the car every day and dont have an alternative . hopefully they will get it sorted out quickly for you

Well i dont have an alternative as it happens ! :)

Thanks for your help Allan.

Appreciated.

The car is fully galvernised and comes with a 10 year bodywork cover

P[aint is covered for 3 years IIRC

It is the bodywork one you will need

They can tell if there has been a stone chip

But get it to the dealers , any should be able to do it for you , but unfortunately some dont like dealing with it , as it is more paperwork to push around

Thanks Sarah.

I guess i'll have to wait and see what they say.

Finding the time to pop in is another matter ! :(

Mmm , I know what you mean

But will be worth it in the end my dear

Now that must be an excuse to have a day off work?

The paint is 3 years, but that sounds like it would be covered under the anti perforation cover of IIRC 10 years :)

Yes I'd get them to look at it.

Cheers Mr. :)

Definately worth while then, i'll give them a call first and see what they say about me dropping in to see them.
