Dumbest Question ever so I apologize now...

Featured Replies

Hey all,

The subject at hand? My fuel tank... Having read several threads on the issue and posed the question before I still find myself mystified by what I'm actually meant to be doing.

Not having the expertise or balls to carry out the vasectomy I'm trying the "keep the little button held down" technique. But not success, and I'm still not a 100% sure which button I'm meant to be pressing

So there I was yesterday at Asda holding the little button in the first picture down and suddenly... click, the tank won't take anymore. With people saying this allows them to hold upwards of 10 extra liters I wasn't impressed with the gauge stopping at 39.4 liters from nearly empty.

So I've taken three pics of the various things that could be interpreted as a "button" that have something to do with the fueling system.

So if anyone could please please please tell me which of the three it is or if I'm doing something wrong? Or if I have the rarest model of fabia vrs that you can't perform this trick with?

Cheers guys :thumbup::D

Hi,

But that's inside where the fuel hose goes? Do you have to hold the hose at a distance to be able to press the button??

y???

Apparntl you just push the button in and keep on filling by what i have read before.I have never done this myself though before.

When ive used the button ive pressed the side of the nozzle against it

You then usually hear a bit of air escaping from the tank

as you pump the extra derv in

Okay. I've tried fiddling with that thing before but it doesn't seem to go in... more move up or down? Should I press it down? (IE: Toward the innards of the car) ??

I would also like to know how to do this :)

Ive never been botherd about the nipple tweek until i stopped at a shell garage and filled up to the brim

Upon filling up i noticed i was about 5ltrs short from a free ferrari

I then rememberd the nipple pushing tip that i had seen on here

So

I pushed the side of the nozzle onto the nipple(as in pushing the nozzle towards the front of the car)

A hissing of escaping air appeared and i started to pump more derv into the car

then went and collected my F40

Thats about it

Press the button in pic 2 (in the neck of the fuel tank) away from you (towards the ground) with the metal pipe (the part that goes in the tank) of the filler hose. You will hear a psssssst and bingo more fuel fits in.

Either hold it that way as you fill or press it a few more times as the pump cuts out.

yeah ,thats it as above:thumbup:

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

i did it this morning, 50litres and £62 worse off :-(

I find using the key to push the button down while filling works well. Saves getting diesel on your fingers too.

If you rotate the nozzle so the 'bend' is pointing towards the nipple, you should be able to hit the nipple and sort of pull it towards you. Hold it in that position and continue filling, as said you'll hear the hissing if it's working. 52 litres is my PB ;)

I just use the metal part of the pump to push it down when i'm filling.

No mess then. :)

i had some spillage when i was not feathering the pump leaver thing properly and opened it too much,

hmmmm diesel shoes

Aye...there is that right enough, i nearly done the same when i wasn't paying attention. :)

i kept looking at the rear wheel expecting the diesel to be leaking over it, lol

least i will never get to the record amount of fuel i put in my hyundai coupe, 64 litres of BP ultimate @ 107.9 = ouch

Think how the truck drivers with the 1500L tanks feel :D
