where do you jack with trolley jack?

Featured Replies

as per title where do you jack your car using trolley jack and then where do you put you axle stands?

Always done it in my mates garage on the sills with some decent jacks, just pop the axle stands inwards slightly, youll see where. Never rested it on them though, just there for safety.

dont fancy the sills as looks like theyll bend and crack, i usually use a bolt just behind back of wheel on front but then no space for stands anywhere?

If you have a low saddle jack then under the chassis rail is best and then put the axle stand where the rear wishbone bolt is.

i tryd jackin mine up on the sills, chuffin bent like a gooden, keep away mate.

suspension mounts or chassis rails.

Done that on one side of mine too, Not the cleverest thing to do!

Have done this numerous times now with garage quality jacks and have had no issues, perhaps you are using the small jacks with the piddly seats.

Yea that was my prob .... not enough clearance for the sill to sit in the little gaps.

I use the sills to lift my car and I have a cheap 2tonne trolly jack from Halfords, I found the sills bent the minute I tried to lift the car and found that putting a piece of softwood between the jack and the sill stops the sills from giving way:thumbup: works a charm but you will hear alot of cracking noises from the wood which can be a little nerve racking.

Same thing for me.

The sills are still bent slightly as the wood split when i last jacked it up but its still fine
