Turbo gone i think

you may all remember i had a problem with my turbo on mf x jabba sports car

i have taken exhuaust sid eoff turbo no play and looks fine ,

then i took of the actourator off thats fine , but the exhuast flap is siezed , reson no boost , is this a new turbo on can i get parts need help asap and as cheap as possible now im redundent :confused:

Sounds like a stuck VNT mechanism that. Its not the exhaust flap thats controlled by the actuator on these turbos, the actuator controls the viens on the exhuast side of the turbo.

Dear lord! Can you repeat that in english please:rofl:? I think I get the jist of it and Skud is probably right.

Sounds like a stuck VNT mechanism that. Its not the exhaust flap thats controled buy the actuator on these turbos, the actuator controls the viens on the exhuast side of the turbo.

yer its were the actuator bar connects to the turbo that solid , is this bad news :confused:

i no i need to take turbo off but were do i go from there :thumbup:

so looking at this i can do this job my self whats best thing to clean the turbo , could this have been caused when my intercooler blew and i had to run car 1000 miles with it like this as i did smoke really bad ,could of this have clogged up my turbo ,

Would be a very logical explanation that. :thumbup:

looks like a straight forward job, id attempt that before buying a new turbo for sure :thumbup:

i w ill give it a go at weekend , any idea what to clean it with as i no i will have to watch what im doing

VNT is jam'd either caused by huge amounts of soot, or I've seen the VNT ring seize due to too much heat on one before.

thanks well my intercooler burst and i had to travel back from newquey and that was over 500 miles before i got it fixxed , my car was putting loads of smoke out more than it does any way lol was really bad , this would not help :confused:

Putting smoke out your not kidding, i was talking to you a while ago at the lights near tesco in st.helens (on a thursday night i think, in a silver fabia vRS with tinted windows) and you booted off the lights, f**k me i couldnt see anything just a black cloud;)

Anyway good luck with getting it back on road:thumbup:

from what I've seen it always poors smoke out. I've had another car in with similar mods from same place and that smoked real hard, and the VNT was jam'd by to much heat, and the turbo shaft was trashed by over boost.

Not a good thing then ? :(

intercooler split that night , start of problems , did smoke alot and i had no power

not yet had little time as working again long hours, i have my black vw caddy to use at moment its slow but i gets me around , hate speed bumps as its very low on coilovers i made from a mk3 golg to fit, :thumbup:
