The first 1000km running in

Featured Replies

Hello,

Today my mom got her fabia, I went to the agency and they explained to me about the car, I asked them if I should do a running in, they told me that it's not necessary, because the engine is manufactured by VW.

Should I believe them or I have to do a running in?

Thanks,

Machinehead.

I certainly haven't... doesn't appear to have done any harm :D

It is interesting they should advise you so as the users manual advises you should not exceed 75% power for the first 1000kms. When I collected my Fabia they gave me no advise on any restrictions either.

I would, that engine will be tight where it's just been assembled for the first few miles.

better to be staedy for the first few miles, I was in my vRS.

i drove mine 'reasonably' hard for the first 1k, then really started using it after that..goes like a dream, and hardly used a drop of oil..enjoy it :-)))
