Headlight alignment

Featured Replies

this seems rather strange, but in the haynes manual it shows there's a vertical adjustment screw at the bottom of the lighs... my car doesn't have this, just two alignment screws on either side of the lamp... drivers sized one is seized to buggery as well :(...

Haynes' diagram is inaccurate; adjusters are normally top and inside (middle of car) of each lamp. The screw at the bottom is the 3rd mounting.

Adjustment screws are steel screw into nylon. They do seize up, and with some penetrating spray they will work loose (make sure you don't damage the screw head). Now, you can make small adjustments yourself, BUT there is no direct height adjuster screw - the light goes up and diagonal with one and up and across with the other. It is a matter of working all the screws to get the beam where you want it - not easy.

MOT test stations have beam checkers and they may well do it free if you ask nicely:thumbup:.

I struggled with mine for 20 minutes and got the heights perfect - except they were then too much to the left. Doh!
