Hi Guys

Just bought an Orange 2002 Octavia 4x4 Turbo hatch. 80k FSH in totally original mint condition....... and all for £2100!

So was wondering what the ups and downs are?

Love it already :D

Cheers

hi AngryDavo,

Ups....great car

Downs.....suspension is sky hi and rolls like a boat on the ocean! that can be resolved quite easily however. There are some amazing 4x4s on this forum, have a search!

Welcome to the 4x4 fold angrydavo. :)

Got yourself a bargain there by the sounds of it.

Welcome good choice.

As sweedish said body roll is quite bad.I didnt like the brakes when i first got mine and upgraded mine to 312mm front setup off of an audi s3.Fuel consuption is poor on mine but i do drive it:D.There are 3 on here running very good bhp have a search and read about them.

What colour interior is yours?.

Check servicing and make sure its had a cam belt at 4 years and a water pump as they are prone to breakage.

Welcome. They do roll too much but the ride height can be useful if you live down a track or in speed hump central. Cambelt should have been done. Don't think you need to do the brakes unless you remap. People sometimes forget to get Haldex oil and filter changed so worth checking. Mine gets about 20mpg at worst and 40 at best. If you remap budget for a clutch. Some survive others dont

Top choice!

Get it remapped!

Get it remapped!

Agreed....Big Differance!!!

yep suspension does roll and leans over like an SUV but it still hangs in there:D

I'm running 17" VRS alloys which seem to make the car not look as high.

Had to use the 4x4 properly a couple of times now (Snow in scotland:D), and it's a rather caperble car.

Have fun:cool:.

Thanks guys.

Will post a pic when I get chance.

RE: bargian... oh yes there's one on flea bay at £4295!

RE: Body roll. It does but only as much as a similar aged Gold/bora.

RE: Cam belt. Done at 68k with bill.

Only issue I have is that it has a leaky sunroof...... but only when I wash it, not when it pours down

Oh and Haldex oil and filter?????

What tyres do you guys recommend???

Thanks again

Angrydavo

Haldex is the four wheel drive system. Oil should have been changed every 40k miles.

It's the same system used in Audi Quattros and the TT as well as golf and Passat 4Motion.

By the way, was that one you've bought this one:

2002 SKODA OCTAVIA ELEGANCE 1.8T 4X4 SUPERB CONDITION on eBay, also, Skoda, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 18-May-08 20:54:47 BST)

If it was, I was looking at that on Autotrader, but when I eventually got paid it had gone :(

Welcome, great buy. just enjoy.

Oil should be changed every 20k with a filter done at 40k.

Audi quattro on the TT/S3/A3 is the same as the 4Mo Golf and Leon4 also the Octavia (with the exception of the Octavia having the 02J 4x4 box, all others use the 02M).

Passat 4Mo is a torsen set up same as Audi A4/A6/A8 and not the same.
