pro's and con's of a strut brace on the vrs

Featured Replies

Looking at putting a strut brace on my vrs but just wondering what experiences other people have had with them.

CONS

- Blocks air filter so removal of brace is necessary everytime your due a filter clean / change

PROS

- Cheap mod (44quid from seat)

- Looks the dogs danglies

- IMO really stiffens up the front end!!! < This is my opinion and i think it does a good job and before anyone asks no i dont have a RARB and yes i can drive,

Along with the uprated Cupra Bushes and Eibachs (even on OEM shockers) is one hell of a difference

Pros

1. It looks nice when you open the bonnet and point it out

2. It only cost £50ish

Cons

1. Does jack to the handling unless you really push the car (Like you would on a track...) in which case it can tighten the steering increasing the feel and giving you a better idea when to turn in. For normal road use it's dead weight, some people will challange this but I bet if they did the Strut brace challange and drove one with and one without they wouldn't be able to tell the difference on a trip to the shops

2. It costs £50 ish (When you consider that for most people it's just cosmetic I suppose it depends how much you value it's bling factor)

3. Restricts access to the air box

4. Makes an awful towbar (Sorry EE i couldn't resist :P )

Haha nice edit - probably not on the driving to the shops but on a spirited b road dash i think it makes a noticeable difference as i like to think of myself as a bit of a colin mcrae lol

The way i see is it does something be it little or large but it all contributes into making the fabia a bit more sharper round the twisties which is a good thing believe me. Theres that old tesco's saying..... every little helps

But safe and obeying all road laws :)

Any websites where i can buy from :D ??

Any SEAT dealer should have them. I find mine helps but thats a WHOLE new can of worms to be opened lol

but i aint got a seat haha, they universal?

Fabia and Ibiza share the same setup, smart ar$e lol

I aint got a SEAT or PORSCHE but thats where i got the last one and thats what it says on my current one lol lol lol

Yeah, it fits all Skoda Fabia 2000-2007

The airbox thing is pretty annoying, but theyre quite cheap and found it was made the car more stable at speed and gave better feel to the steering.

Another con that hasn't been mentioned is that it could have a negative impact in a crash by transferring the shock from one side of the car to another... or so I've read.

Lol, aye cant help myself, shall see where my local Seat dealer is, not sure where like tbh, could the brace act as a support bar for u and a girl :P :D

Easy solution......dont crash lol

Pervert!

I was able to change my filter the last time without having to remove it. Does anybody else find that the car jumps around a bit due to pot-holes/rough surfaces on the road? I find mine very juddery as if it is distributin the vibration across the whole front of the car rather than being absorbed by the shocks....just a thought

lol, :P
