Fabia vRS - Alarm going off for no reason

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've seen this mentioned in the long list of known issues somewhere on here but the original post had about 150 replies.

My alarm seems to be setting itself off frequently recently. It goes off at random times after locking the car. It just went off now at 9.30 after I locked it at 9.00. Other times it has been locked for 4 hours etc. Sometimes it doesn't go off at all.

I've tried kicking and rocking the car to set it off but this doesn't work so it can't be a sensitivity issue.

Anybody ever had this and know how to rectify it. I think it's beginning to annoy my neighbours when it goes off at one in the morning.

Cheers,

Ade

Mine does the same thing yet I can't manage to set it off.

Normally goes off once a week about 9:30 at night.

something to do with external air temperature dropping? have heard reports of 'volumetric' alarms going off in the evening if you leave the internal air vents open -is the vrs alarm volumetric?

Check that the interior lights go out properly.....does the Furby have one in the boot as well?

That's the only thing I can think of.

First happened when it was parked in a car park and kids were messing around but then started happening when just parked on the drive.

Will be interested to see if it stops during the winter.

My dad had a Rover with a volumetric alarm that did this every now and then while in a garage!

What we found was that there was a fly inside the car and that was triggering the volumetric sensor.

Sounds bizarre but it's true.

Cheers all,

Will experiment with the vents and check the lights later. Will also cloud the interior with fly spray

Very common fault with the Fabia. Interior protection sensors go faulty and need replacing. Part number 6Y0 959 121 cost

I had the same problem. Turned out that a mouse had got loose in the car after I took some garden waste to the local recycling centre. It kept setting the alarm off in the middle of the night. If there is any chance you may have one then get a trap and bait it with a chocolate raisin. The poor mouse didn't stand a chance. Just make sure you get it cleaned up quick as mouse drool leaves a bit of a mess!!
