Waterproof boot liner

Featured Replies

Anyone have one of these, and are they much cop? Haven't seen one so don't know how good/resilient they are. Got a Boxer dog to think about when I get my new L&K. Like the idea of the flap over the lip so the little ******* doesn't scratch the paint getting in like he's done on the wife's Leon!

I've got one as I have the same problem with a Lab, pretty strong and worth it (in my eyes)

Oh you mean a dog!!!!! I thought you were a Boxer yourself:D sorry

Bless.

Yeah, I guess a lab would pretty much do about the same amount of damage, possibly with a bit less slobber. It's the sturdiness i'm concerned about as he's a bit rough and tumble! I'm assuming it's shaped so that there's no gaps up the sides, if that makes sense? Sort of, if you pour a few litres of water in it to test it's waterproofness (even a word?), it'd slosh around without ever coming out the seams and into the boot?

There is a boot liner and a boot tray. The boot tray has larger lips up the side than the liner, although I have used the liner in my last two cars and it is absolutely bomb proof. Keeps the boot dry even with my babies soaking buggy in it.

What it does not do is to keep the side carpets of the boot dry, when you open the boot in the rain and the carpy side rails direct half the rain on your boot into the car:( The only bad bit of the hatch design.

Enjoy.

I must have had the tray type. You wouldn’t want to corner with a couple of litres of water in it though. The lip is only an inch or so high. If you need more waterproofness I think you will have to vacuum seal your dog in plastic (obviously don’t forget the breathing tube)

Looks like i'll be thankful i'm getting an estate not a hatch by the sounds of it.

Ah, I think we may be at slightly crossed wires here: there are THREE types of liners. The one i'm thinking of getting isn't the boot mat or the plastic boot tray (which I think looks like my wife's Leon tray except her side walls are about 6 inches tall, not 1 or 2).

The one i'm after is here: ?koda Accessories

As you can see, it's more a fabric looking thing which is why i'm curious as to how sturdy it'd be with a dog, and hopefully you can also understand why i'm asking if you poured a few litres of water in, just to experiment, would it keep the boot completely dry or would water leak from the corners/seals or somewhere.

Hope that makes sense?

As I said, I like the look of the flap over the lip of the tailgate as Charlie has a habit of putting his paws on the wife's Leon tailgate when he gets in & out and ends up scratching it. This'd hopefully prevent him scratching it.

I'm not sure about the Skoda bootliners as from what I could see none of them do a particularly good job at protecting the whole of the boot when it comes to dogs. I am currently making a bespoke one out of two of the rear-seat dog covers from Aldi which will cover the entire boot and cost all of £10 :)

the one you are looking at is the one I have and actually can be laid flat, the corners are formed using velcro (already sewn on) You fold the corners up. The sides come about 300mm up the side of the boot

So it'd be better to describe it as waterproof in terms of the material as opposed to waterproof in terms of a carrier as the water can't be held within it's confines, but also won't perforate into the material itself, yes?

As you've read, i've got a dog and even though he's a short hair, I don't actually want him to knacker the inside of my boot! Just trying o work out the best bootliner version they do.

How sturdy in terms of being tearable is it: It'd have to put up with his claws? Even though they're short and well kept, they're still there and I'm not keen on getting something that'll rip easily, if you know what I mean.

I got the one your looking at, mainly for mountain biking. Haven't fitted it yet, but it seems like its up for the job!

One thing it doesn't show you on the accessories website is it also has the right holes for fitting it between the front and rear headrests to make a hammock like area for the dog to go in - sometimes thats more useful that sticking them in the boot.
