rear suspension muscle kit

Featured Replies

with my job i carry around a lot of kit in the boot. With the normal suspesion the rear is lowered by about 40mm. Obviously this is affecting the handling of the car.

I've been advised to fit a suspension muscle kit to help, basically a piece of rubber that fits between the coils to stiffen the suspension.

Suspension Muscle Kit: Car Parts Direct

has anyone got experience of these kits?

The other option (for 3x the price) is the auxillary spring kit:

Rossini Spring Assistors: Car Parts Direct

which would people recommend?

commonly know as coil spring assisters, sell them in my work and from the people who have used them have said it cured there sagging rr problems. mainly needed for towing or in your case to reduced the height loss so keeping ground clearance and stopping vehicle bottoming out. The make we sell is graystone and come in various size for different coil length. Most caravan and car parts/accessories shops should be able to help in your area.

thanks for the info, guess they are the right tools for the job.

Was concerned that they would only stop bottoming out and not affect ride height. The fact that they do appear to stop ride height loss is perfect

I've no actual experience of any of the cited makes. Graystone are the only one I've even heard of!

when my dad used todo alot of towing of a caravan he bought some Monroe shock absorbers that were air filled and depending on the load you could use a foot pump to increase the presure to keep the rear of the car closer to normal ride height.

It was on a FIAT Tempra and I don't know if you can still buy those shocks but they worked really well.

Monroe "Ride Levelers" - They work really well as long as the air hoses can be fitted on a route that stops them getting cut by the rear suspension moving.

ok, thanks for the further info.

There seem to be 2 options for the Greystone spring assist - one for Coil spring with a 18-25mm gap between each coil and one for 26-38mm gap

any idea which one i need?

cheers
