Octavia key problems

Featured Replies

Hi all. As a new member, I thought I'd try this one out: I have an Octavia 1.9 TDi. It suddenly wouldn't unlock with the remote. On trying with the key manually, I discovered the alarm activates very quickly - faster than the claimed 15 secs in the manual. Is it a key sync problem?

My only other problem was an airbag issue - the light wouldn't go out, and this was traced to an electrical contact problem with the seat belt.

If you hadn't been having trouble with the remote beforehand then it is probably more likely to be the remote getting out of sync. Your owner's manual should tell you how to re-synchronise (IIRC you'll need both keys to do it).

Otherwise replace the battery in the remote (try a web search on VW remote battery for instructions ).

Can't help you with alarm info - I happen to believe car (and house) alarms are the work of the devil, all they seem to do is make a hell of a racket that everyone chooses to ignore.

Had airbag light on just one week after got new Octy. Dealer did the reset trick and said if it comes back they'll replace airbag connector (not seatbelt one) under driver's seat. Known issue, but it has never come back again.
