Cambelt On 96 1.3 Petrol Felly

Featured Replies

Hi It Is Only Me Calling On The College Of Knowledge Once More. How Difficult Is A Cambelt Replacement On My Felly. I Dont Possess A Manual So I Am Just Testing The Water So To Speak To See Whats Involved. Cheers Chaps Any Advice Would Be Most Welcome .

:)They don't have one mate, there is a duplex chain instead.

The 1.6 has a belt that needs changing every 60k miles

The 1.3s have a chain that may need tensioning if the engine gets too rowdy.

A few Felly owners have had this done so can offer more advice.

**The only belt the 1.3 has is the alternator belt?

It is relatively easy to change but only really needs doing if its high milage and hasn't been changed yet... otherwise they just rattle on for years and years.

Changed mine myself as the rattling was bugging me... took about 4-5 hours with a bit of help and beer breaks! lol

:)There is no adjuster for the 1.3 timing chain, when it rattles it's due for replacement. I've not [yet] seen one actually fail, but a very worn one is exceptionally noisy, rather like someone rattling a tin box of nuts and bolts!
