Diesel Run On

Featured Replies

Hi all. i have got a fabia vrs which is on a 2004 o4 registration with 49000 miles on the clock.

I have got a problem with it which may be some one can advise on the cause.

This problem has just started to happen in the last few weeks :

when ever i go out in it and then stop some where and switch it off at the ignition the car seems to run on for about a few seconds almost as if it is trying to start again .

Any ideas??????

I use asda for filling the car up with diesel if thats of any help and it is regularly serviced. new fuel filter has just been fitted.

Sounds like it needs de-coking

Carbon deposits built up in the engine

There is a flap in the inlet pipe near the EGR which is anti shudder/run on.

any one got a photo of this anti run on flap . will this need cleaning out?

or is the fix to take the car for a good blast up the road??

any further advise appreciated.

Carbon build up is more and more common these days. I had a Volvo S40 with a GDI engine in before the furby and that suffered from a major coking problem.

I was told by several mechanics that a good blast regulary helps keep the buildup down.

Thats my excuse anyway:D

A quick Google has also suggested oil in the vacuum lines...?

would i be correct in assusming it is fitted to the side of the egr valve??

so in order to clean the offending item i would need to take the egr valve off ?

It is built into the EGR housing so a good clean of that internally should help.
