Fabia 2001 SDI dramatic oil consumption rise

Featured Replies

Hello

I've seen a number of these posts regarding the 1.4 16v fabias, although not the SDI models. The car has been driving for a year and a half with virtually no oil consumption and over the past few months has developed quite a thirst. It's good 10w40 semi synthetic oil and the car is starting and driving spot on. The economy is better than ever. A VAG scan reveals nothing. Although (and I'm not and engineer so be patient) I noticed cylinder 1 and 3 have broadly the same operating pressures at idle, where as 2 and 4 are nearly zero at idle. Is this weird?

Thanks

Anyone? I've flushed the system and refilled with 10w-40 Fuchs semi synthetic, which I believe is the type VW use. It has the approvals specified for the car. But so did the last type of oil I used. Hoping someone can shed light on this.

Thanks

maybe it likes a gargle?:confused::D

What are the oil consumption figures?

Not sure exactly, but it the oil level never really dropped between changes (around a year). Now, it is gone from full to the refill mark on the dipstick in a matter of months. Its the fact that it has shot up. Its not even cold weather! And the car is used in the same way day and daily as it always has been. Now VW might say the oil consumption is fine, but why has it changed so dramatically? Could it be a blocked EGR valve?
