My friend has just opened up a new stereo fitting place stoke on trent.

1) I have noticed that there is nobody that makes a rear parcel shelf for the octavia. I am having one made for mine and just thought if anybody else would be interested depending on price etc.

2) We are going to make a bass box to replace the compacted foam cubby hole thingy that sits behind the spare so it is out of the way from damage etc. Could do with finding out if the hatch and estate are the same shape behind the spare.

Just trying to gauge interest as the boxes will be made from fibre glass so will have to make moulds.

We will be doing these in our spare time so it may take a bit of time but hopefully get a finished item ready for Trax in September.

There is just not enough call for parcel shelves any more in the car audio world. We still sell a few but they tend to be for Fiesta, Saxo etc. More and more people are going down the custom fit route for speakers rather than a shelf. Also with the Octavia you can get good enough speakers back into the stock locations as not to overly bother with a stealth shelf. Where you can improve on things is if people dont want a sub in the boot. Then a stealth shelf would make good sense with a decent pair of 6x9,7x10.

As for the sub box, think carefully how the sub will actually be mounted. Will it be on the top side or the actual side ? I think fitting a 12inch sub in there might pose a problem. Also where is the air relief going to flow to if you leave the carpet on the top ?? Perhaps a band pass box design might be worth looking at with a port design ?? That way you might be able to have the speaker in the box rather than 'on show'.

Other possibility might be to turn the spare wheel upside down and fibre glass something in there.

If you can find somewhere to fit a discreet sub box for a fabia.. that would be cool its whats stopping me getting some ICE... i dont want a f**koff sub in the middle of the boot

Will be making a new boot floor to replace the carpet anyway but have also thought about putting a box on the rhs at the back as there is loads of room there.

I do use my boot quite a lot and just want to get the sub out of the way plus it looks lost in such a big boot.
