CD Changer Stopped working

Featured Replies

The cd changer has stopped working in my vrs. When I change to the changer it tells me that there are no disks???? Also if I leave it at cd 1 it just sits there doing nothing.

Hope its an easy fix as I'm just spending too much on my car at the moment.

hi mate,

is the rear washer spray working.....sounds stupid, but mine stopped working and it was because the rear washer pipe (where 2 pipes join) is above the cd changer in the boot and has a habit of popping off and soaking the electrics. This happended in my 4x4 estate and my vrs!

Give it a good blow out, A can of air does the trick.

Now that u mention that yes my rear wash wiper is not working. Great. Did the changer work after the wash?

Ill have a look at it tonight. Where is the pipe you are talking about?

It's fairly obvious if you look around inside the LH wheelarch area where the stacker is.

Yeah the washer pipe had come off, I just connected it back up. I see all the connections beside it so I'd say this is my problem. Going to buy a can of air tomorrow and give it a good blast and hopefully this will bring my auto changer back to life

yes mine works again, i cleaned all the connections then put some contact spray on them, put the cd changer in the airing cupboard left it for a week then refitted and it all works. Ps gaffer tape the joint so it cant come apart again.....then its job done!

Guess this is what ill be doing tonight.

Thanks for all the help.

no worries! let us know how you get on!

my pipes popped off before, is this the one that's on the actual boot lid under the plastic or is there another point next to the changer where it comes off?

There's a joint inside the LH rear wing, next to the CD stacker. That's the one that soaks the stacker. The one at the jet isn't an issue here as a rule.

yes, kens right, its normally the pipe joint above the changer.....however my rear pipe (where it joins the motor in the rear hatch) has also popped off before.....it appears skoda pipes (washer jet ones at least) like to come apart!

I meant that the joint at the jet doesn't soak the stacker, not that it doesn't come apart.

Finally got around to taking the stacker out. Think it fecked as one of the wires, a yellow one, has broken off at the connection. Thanks Skoda for covering the connections in nice water retaining foam. I get some contact fluid tomorrow and see does it help.

Might have to get another changer

Apparently, other than the OEM units, it's difficult to get heads and stackers other than the standard units to work together. So I'd solder up the broken wire, and replace the foam with heat shrink.

I cannt figure where the wire goes. Had a good look at the connector and each pin has a wire coming out the back. There is no where to connect it.
