Another win for Chris Knott

Featured Replies

Just had quotes through for my insurance renewal and including the impending remap next month.

Details are as follows:

Age: 27

NCB: 5 Years

12k a year inc business use and my wife on the policy

Firstly spoke to Direct Line (current insurer). My insurance would've been £430 PA as of next month but after mentioning the remap as a 30% increase in power it went up to £580 - £130 more. What they didn't tell me was that the excess went up an extra £300 to £850 as a result.....I had to ask for that info too.

So, I then spoke to the very helpful Chris Knott, mentioning this Forum in the process. ;)

Theirs came to £519.99 including all the mods and the remap. Also, the excess was only £250 (total).

Enough of an improvement over Direct Line to make it worthwhile and in the event of a claim my excess is far lower.

LV in this instance refused cover on their website when I ticked the various mod boxes. Pffft...

After the anti roll bar and the Cupra bushes and the leather, direct line were not so competetive - add a 30% upgrade in power on top and things get silly. Short sighted in the modern age of fettling with cars to suit your liking. :thumbdwn:

Interesting.

Just had my [rather scary] renewal from DL through this weekend. Will try Chris Knott.

Ive just had a renewal.

Didnt know about this company.

Got mine through HIC Me being 19 with 2 years no claims. In my name.

Suspension, Alloys, Brakes and Remap.

Cost me £1295, i dont think thats too bad considering my age and mods!

i had a good deal on my vrs from sky insurance. i a 25, 4 yrs ncb (2 accidents 1 my fault 1 not), 20k miles and i am paying £400 for the year all mods declaired. the car is remaped with green filter and pd160 intake. thought that was really good

Another vote for Chris Knott here - very good indeed!

Ignore your renewal from Direct Line and get a new quote from their web site. Mine went down from £291 to £250. When I queried them about it they said it was due to the 10% online discount. 10% of £291 is £41? Really???????

All well and good till you mention mods as this thread discusses. Then the website does not support mods and they rip you off for them when you call up.

I think RBS have told Direct Line to make some more money so they can be sold off to fill the cash hole ...

I'd also give Adrian Flux and Brentacre a ring.

Steve

Got my renewal through from Adrain flux £840 thats for 23 year old, 4 years NCB and a fabia with a few mods ;)

Then tried Chris Knott who came in at £630 for the same policy. When i phoned Adrain flux back to cancel they asked why i was cancelling and i told the nice lady on the phone its because your expensive. She went off to get the price "checked" and came back with £600 all in :D

How can they Drop so much in price! Must just think of a number and double it when it comes to calculating renewals

Believe it or Knott Admiral beat all for me

No longer no claims after some 4x4 tw@ hit and run me

1.5million miles in a company car, company insurance, no accident

5k in my own, new, personal car and some tw@ in a 4x4 hit and runs me Whilst parked up and I lose all no claims and have to insure as an at fault driver

I now know who he is and just waiting till he gets his new 4x4 in August to reciprocate, no point in damaging a two year old Range Rover when you can get the new one ;-)
