Wing mirror damage, can this be repaired?

Featured Replies

Some numbnut decided it would be a good idea to rip the corner of my drivers side wing mirror off. Yeah thanks :(

I found the missing chunk and it is just one chunk that has gone from the bottom right hand corner. The glass is still intact thank God and the electrics are perfectly fine. Is it worth my while trying to repair it and has anyone else succeeded in doing the same? If so, what's the best thing to use?

TIA

You could try superglueing it back together but it'll need sanding around the join and re-spraying , so it may be easier and not much more expensive to just buy a new cover

There are some really butt munchies around these days that don't give a cr@p about other peoples property. I would check out how much a new cover would be, as stated above.

Similar thing happened to me. Where can you get the casing from aside from a breakers?

Or euro car parts.

If I did go for a new cover, is it something that could be replaced DIY or is it a dealer job?

Skospares.com seem to have a blck vrs. When a similar thing happened to my octy (broke the mounting rather than the cover) I got a unit from them and just swaped out the broken bits. I think it cost me £70.

Very easy diy job - took about 1hr.

Yes it can be repaired.

Epoxy or the coirrect "cement" for the plastic are probably the best bets. Though there now seem to be a multitude of superglues on the market for all putposes.

Whether it'll be perfect, noticable or cack(!) depends on your dedication and skill. ;)

I'd just buy a new cover, IIRC silverlake had a black fabia in not too long ago.
