Drivers Seat Memory Not Working - Fixed!

Featured Replies

No longer a problem but I'm sharing this knowlage for those who may have the same issue in the future.

I picked up my 56-plate Superb Elegence last week, it had one issue it's Memory seat function just wouldn't work.

The seat moved via the manual controls no problem but when trying to set the memories the car wouldn't register the settings (no beep) or move the seats if one of the setting reacal buttons was pressed.

Before you all shout out once I tried this with the memory isolator switch in both positions - no go - I rang the dealer, who was sympathetic but not helpful.

I've trawled this fourum for a number of days but no fix untill this morning I stumbled accross this thread on a VW fourum:

Memory seat not working - TDIClub Forums

Thought what the hell I'll try it - tada! SUCCESS! everything works a treat now.

Seems like the dealer must have reset the the car with VAG-COM and didn't reactivate the seats so they were in dorment low power mode. To activate the seats you must do the following:

Here's how to turn the memory seat on:

1) Pull the seat all the way forward

2) Tilt the seat all the way forward

3) Tilt the seatback all the way forward

It still amazes me that VW dealers don't know how to do this.

 Hope this will be of some use to others

That's probably carrying out a basic setting. Perhaps required as a result of removing the battery.
