Cruise Control

Featured Replies

Playing around with VAGCOM earlier this evening I got the following response from the engine controller:

Address 01: Engine
  Controller: 038 906 012 CL
  Component: 1,9l R4 EDC 0000SG 3359
  Coding: 00002
  Shop #: WSC 31480

The car is a 110 horse diesel elegance by the way.

On the ross tech website it says that if there is a G in the component field for the engine then cruise is active. According to the VAGCOM output I have a G, so do I only need to fit the stalk and connecting wiring for the cruise to work? Or do I have the wrong end of the stick? There should be some of the wiring in place because is it a diesel, is this right?

If so, just got to get up the courage to remove the airbag.

VAGCOM is flipping useful, no end of useful information, even the free version. I'm buying the full version when I have the cash.

If cruise was enabled and you dont have a stalk fitted you will have a cruise fault logged in your engine ecu.

Might be an idea to edit your chassis and security info out of that mate.

Pants, no cruise related errors, only the engine coolant temp sensor ones.

I did think about that but I wasn't sure. Cheers for the help, original post edited too. Didn't fancy messing with the airbag or ESP steering sensor thingy anyway, I'll save up my pennies and get someone to do it for me I think.

Lummox, gone vegetarian now have we, no more brains?:)

Full of brains now

You'll need a small wiring loom as well as the stalk installed on that one.

When you enter the login to enable Cruise the G would then be added to the ECU description.

As Ross very correctly says, once this is done and without a stalk fitted you would have an implausable signal fault for the Cruise Control.

Nottingham to Newport Pagnell - Not too far to travel ;)

Not for a profesional job ;)

Tempting, the outlaws live down that way. Only problem is that before I can do that I need to:

Get car serviced

Get 2/3 new tyres

fix coolant temp sensor

fix radio

fix the back seat

and clean the chocolate out the back door, Lindt chocolate has a low melting point compared to other chocolate!
