I'll link whore it out again to all my contacts.

I find it amazing how we are the only country in Europe paying more for diesel than petrol. On the continent, diesel is always around 10-20p a litre cheaper. It used to be cheaper here than petrol, but anyone noticed how since sales of new diesel cars has soared how the price of diesel has soared past petrol.

That's because of supply and demand.

They are taxed at exactly the same level , so nothing to do with the government

Exactly!

- This is the last time I will say this. (Please note I do work in a fuel station)

The only thing you can do is to stop or limit how much you buy.

I love driving and would far rather spend £15 on a random drive in the Civic than buying a DVD for example... It's all about how you budget and spend your money.

The harsh reality is we all need fuel for work so will keep on buying it - Hence why the price will still continue to rise.

Not quite. In Sweden (after yesterday's rise) 95 is 116.5 per litre, 98 is 118.9 and diesel 122.3. In Norway diesel comes in between 95 and 98. But in Denmark diesel is cheaper than 95.

For my car I'm the opposite way round.

I have an amount of money that I'm comfortable spending on motoring expenses each month and want to stick to it.

In the short term that means driving slower to save fuel , and in the long term it means I'll be replacing the octavia with a cheaper car to buy and run.

I could afford to spend more if I wanted , but that's not where my priorities are at the moment.

I'll still go out for a pointless thrash on my bike though :D

Exactly - I mean...

I know I enjoy the Civic and love to drive it - However the 29mpg isn't the best factor in the world. (Hence why I drive the clio on a daily basis)
