Changing Service regime via diagnostic

Featured Replies

2006 Octavia 2 LHD

Last service I asked for “LongLife”. The garage did not alter the setting in the computer so I am getting Service warnings displayed too early. Does anyone know if I could set/reset this function myself using a commercially available instrument connected to the diagnostic connector? If so what instrument is recommended please? I know that I can turn the warning off with the trip reset button. My vehicle is supposed to be QG1 but the dealer must have changed the regime to fixed service intervals to encourage me to return regularly!

What oil did they use at the last service. If they didnt use longlife oil then you can't change it.

Thanks for the reply.

They did use longlife oil, as I asked, but no change can have been made to the engine management computer. I would like to know what diagnostic tool to buy and whether it would enable me to alter QG0 to QG1.

I would like to have a diagnostic tool anyway, just for interest. Now I have passed 2 years, I will do my own servicing.

VAG COM is what your after.

Thanks

OK but do you have a recommendation for where I buy a VAG COM?
