Independent VAG/Skoda specialist? (Bristol area)

Featured Replies

Hi, just wondered if anyone can recommend an indy VAG/Skoda specialist - I'm just outside bristol (Between Weston and Bristol) and want to know of any decent garages to have my (not yet purchased) Skoda serviced.

If you don't know of any indy specialists, then maybe recommend a main dealer whos work is up to scratch....... (i've heard that Clist & Rattle ain't much cop though.....)

Many thanks.

Steve

haven't got any more recommendations i'm afraid, but I would say that I've found Clist & Rattle ok actually. I had my first service and a bit of warranty there (with courtesy car), and bought a few parts from there for the bluetooth install as well.

The only thing i would say is get any prices in writing. I only went to them because after phoning around dealers, they gave the best quote. But when I got the final bill though, it was about £30 more than I'd been quoted - trouble is I'd lost the exact figure I was quoted on the phone some weeks earlier, and the name of the guy I'd spoken to, so was in no position to dispute :( Mysterious items on the service bill like "brake dust inhibitor"

Incidentally, when looking to buy I went in and pretty much offered them a sale of nearly-new octavia vRS on a plate, if they could find me one from stock. Never got a call back. :thumbdwn:

I know that doesn't sound like a positive review, but if you've ever had the displeasure of visiting WSM Ford, Clist & Rattle make you feel like royalty in comparison! :)

I use PC motors just off glouster Road. Dave is very good. They are VW/AUDI specialist but now do skoda/seat.

I have been using him for years.

Cheers

Thanks for the replies....... I pick my my fabia vRS up on saturday :D

Hopefully, i won't be needing to use any of your recommendations for a good while yet

Might give PC motors a whirl when the time comes, thanks again for the replies.

I've just booked mine in to PC on the basis of this post... gearbox possibly gone, will report back afterwards!

  • 1 month later...

just to say, used these guys... they got my gearbox rebuilt and fitted a new dual mass flywheel and clutch... total came to £1200... of which only £125 was labour, if I would have not been in such a hurry I would have looked around for a secondhand box and sourced a clutch myself, Will definitely be using these guys in the future (provided if anything goes wrong with the box of clutch they honor the years guarantee)!

Booked into these guys today for a cambelt and water pump! Super friendly guy - clearly knows his stuff...

Be good to see how it all goes!

Bit late seeing this but I've been going to Streetwise Autos, check their website, 3 years now and never any issues, much cheaper than cluster and rattle too

Just been quoted £395 all in by VAG centre Bristol.

In conversation he mentioned they check water pump (not part of cambelt change) as can be prone to leaking, and that's expensive at around £400. Ouch
