Cambelt 2.0 TDI 140 BHP

Featured Replies

Hi All

What is the best price to replace a cambelt on a 2.0 litre 140 BHP TDI (BKD) engine Octavia II?

I can't decide if I should do it early, i.e. early August before I go to France for a week a a lot of miles. Also, is it best to combine it in with a service, and/or get the water pump done at the same time?

Ihave looked for other threads but none seem to relate to cost for my engine.

Any views much appreciated

Cheers

T

What mileage are you on now?

Where are you?

Wife has a 2.0 tdi touran.

Advised to change after 4 years.

VW Dealer quote £400 & £80 for water pump.

Local Independent - £230 fully fitted....

I have had a main dealer quote for £342.69 plus water pump and another main dealer asking £450 for cambelt only.

Blimey!

I think I would prefer the main dealer. How long should the job take to do?

Amazing - handbook states 80,000 miles for cambelt or four years. If you convert 120000km into miles it is actually just shy of 75000 miles.!!! How could the conversion be so far out.

Because on the old fixed service regime there isnt a service at 75,000 miles.

Is that including parts? If that is I would wonder where they got their parts as that ain't a great deal more that what I pay trade for a cambelt kit and water pump. So either they are doing it for next to nothing of using cheap poss non genuine parts.

I insisted on mine being done prior to buying the car 2nd hand at 58k from a main dealer.
