Suspension Problems!!! Help

Featured Replies

Hi everybody!!

Got more problems with my 2007 Vrs Fabia (mk1 shape)

My car is eating front tyres, not through driving it hard i must add. Ive had the tracking checked about 2months after buying it brand new as it started pulling all over the road. It was out so i paid and had it adjusted, it was still no better. So I took it back and after driving about a mile down the road it was out again. I had the tracking done a further 3 times and then by the time it had done 6000 miles the front tyres were almost completely bald.

It aint as if the car gets a hard life, my girlfriend drives it all the time. She drives slower than my gran!!

I think I have norrowed down the problem, I think its the bushes on the lower arms as when pulling away and braking the wheel seems to move backwards and forwards in the wheel arch. I know this isn't normal but has any body else had this problem??

I know that uprated bushes would help but the car is only a year old. The original bushes shouldn't wear out that quickly, should they??

Once again the car is under warrenty and the dealer wont do anything about it!!

Does any body know of a good skoda dealer near maidstone in kent?

i'm getting the bushes in my 54 plate vrs replace this week with seat cupra ones!! I had a similar problem , i had balancing and tracking chaecked and adjusted and mine pulls and i get a shuddering in the steering wheel when i hit 70mph on motorway!! my mechanic is faily good and has a history with VW/Skodas and he says the standard bushes on the vrs are a load of crap and thats where the problem lies !!! Get cupra one from seat and get them fitted mine cost 16 quid !!

Hope this helps

I will take it up with the skoda area technical manager as he is coming to have a look at my car. I have a list of problems as long as my arm!!

Thanks for your help!!

Do you go over a lot of speed bumps, as I have found that they can wear bushes out in no time at all (my old Mondeo every 9 Months!!!)

Simon

its control arm bushes, last rr day at awsome, you could actually see the fabias with worn bushes (the front wheels moving around in the arches on the rollers!) and the ones that were fine (front wheels staying still) ;)

What are the usual symptoms of worn bushes - is it usually just tyre wear or is it wandering under power or when rolling with the cluch depressed?

Ian

I must admit , warranty on those items have to be classed as a manufacturing defect

You said what can be done about worn bushes

There you go , they have worn

I am sorry fair wear and tear is what they will quote to you

I hear what you are saying in that in only 1 year the bushes have gone , but it is things like larger alloys and tyres that can make them wear quicker

Sorry my dear , it will be wear and tear , no matter where you go

If they have been checked by a dealer and nothing is out of the ordinary is there , then it will not be a warranty item

The solution is to fit Seat Cupra bushes in the rear & Powerflex poly bushes in the front of the console/wishbone, this is a 'standard' mod on here.Just do a search for console bushes, there are also a couple of DIY guides on how to do it. If youre mechanically minded its not a difficult job provided you have the right tools for the job.

If the bushes are worn I doubt they'd be covered under Skoda warranty - another manufacturer maybe but not Skoda.

My suggestion is to simply replace them with Ibiza Cupra non voided ones. They will stand the test of time and speedbumps etc unlike the flimsy standard voided ones. Mine were knackered after 35k and so I decided I was only going to change them once hence I went for Cupra ones.

Ooooh dont get me on to Fiat warranty

:redhot: what a flamin load of absolute twaddle they speak and useless bunch on no good joke people sat on theri backsides talking twaddle :redhot:

I did warranty claoms on Skoda`s for years , and I have to say they was fantastic , some of the items I claimed for you would not beieve and they was good

I would say that their warranty is one of the best

Sorry :(

But wear and tear is wear and tear

But agree with the Seat bush and the Powerflex ones

Sarah

LMFAO - Sarah, chill! :D

Go and look at that lovely 1.8T with the fat manifolds on in the showroom...that'll soothe your nerves. :D

I spoke to one of the mechs at the Leeds dealership and he couldn't understand why they fit voided bushes to the Fabia with it being quite heavy, especially so on the vRS. He asked me where I'd got mine from too. ;)

How long should the Cupra bushes last ?

Any longer than standard ones ?

Ooh yes

I would have thought that they should be better lasting

They are solid on the Cupra ones , so should be longer

Sarah

Ooh Fiat warrany really wound me up

The car was just 2 years old and the back box fell off!!!!! not warranty????

Sorry , chilled now ;)

Perhaps i was lucky but my dealer actually OFFERED to repair my bushes just before my warranty ran out.

Thankyou dear.

I have Cupra ones but weren't sure the lifespan.

well you know that one of the reasons I'm no longer with skoda is because they wouldn't fix the bushes on my car, even though it was under warrenty... I wouldn't have bought the fiat if I thought I would have the same treatment!

I was sat with owner of my local fiat garage, and explained why I was ****ed off with skoda and their warrenty, and askes if I could get new bushes at 18 months and 90,000 miles, under warrenty... he said yes, he said he'd just replaced bushes for free on an old bravo that had done 70k, when I looked doubtfull, he phoned fiats warrenty dept. and put it on speaker so I could hear, then he said "driving instructor, with a car thats done 90k, within the forst two years, and the suspension bushes go, would you replace them free under warrenty?" warrenty dept. man said "yes, of course we would"...

everything I have asked for I've got under warrenty, even though they know the car is remapped, even stuff thats my fault! for example, i lost some of the waterproofing foam that seals the bonnet/engine, and got that replaced under warrenty, and that was my fault!...

now thats what I cxall service :P
