Brake "Bleep" ??

Featured Replies

Just got my Fabia VRS (What a car!), I have noticed a very quiet "bleeping" sometimes under braking but not all the time, it is very quiet, if the radio is on or the window open you can't hear it.

My brakes are about 3/4 worn and ready for changing but if this was a warning sound then surely it should be louder and come with a warning light?

Any ideas:confused:

Not 100% sure...

But you need to fit 312mm brakes!

Mine have just about worn in well now.

Stopping power is sooooo good.

If you need to change your pads / disc's anyway, you may aswell get bigger brakes!

Not much help on your post, but food for thought.

Dave

Im not sure he is keeping it long enough to put 312mm on it!

Ive never come across the beeping on mine i must admit....

I've come to the conclusion that it's a sounder from the ABS board when it's priming itself. Only does it when you've been a bit "urgent" on the brakes (all the time around town!!).

It's an odd one. Almost as if the ABS ECU has debug code running on it. And why would a production unit even have such a buzzer? All very odd...

i have a noise that sounds like that when im also braking but after a previous thread it just seems like a normal thing on a fabia

I notice the same thing also - it's a very quiet bleeping sound that happens under braking - the bleeping continues until you take your foot of the brake pedal - it doesn't happen all the time and it seems to randomly.

yepo, thats the noise, im think theres a way of turning it off.

I have heard this noise on mine too, I have read the previous thread and nothing has been said about the brake assistance? Is it something to do with this??

I've realised it only does it if i brake firmly and come to a stop and until i release my foot off the pedal the noise then stops, also noticed that if you reapply the brake it doesn't do it! but as said before, its very distant where ever its coming from and can only hear it if the stereo's off!

Well at least I'm not on my own then, thought I was going mad!

The car is still under warranty and goes in next Thursday to see what they can find, guy on the phone at Skoda hadn't had the problem before, am I too picky?

While its in I've asked them to investigate a squeeking drivers seat (its all noise with me!!) anyone else got a squeeky seat?

Where is it going Andy? Barkers?

I have the bleep, and the noise seems to come from the ECU. As I have no warning lights on the dash, or issues with the braking abilities of the car, I can only assume that the ECU is designed to make this noise, but it's not intended for the noise to be audible in the cabin.

As for the squeaky seat, you may find that one of the teeth that lock the seat base in position on the rail hasn't quite engaged. Lift the lever, move the seat from one end of the rail to the other to free everything up, put the seat back where you want it and release the lever again. Now sit in the seat and push against the footrest, which will twist the seat body just enough to ensure that if any of the teeth haven't engaged, then they will click into place as the seat body twists slightly from you pushing against it!

HTH
