Need to get the above so my mate can service my VRS this weekend - I did a search for oil but the thread I read just confused me as there was a bit of dispute on which was best. Could someone tell me the best oil to use for a 10k fixed interval service, and which plugs and filter to get? Also are the sump plugs specific to the octy or are they a standard size like valve caps?

Also do the plugs need gapping or are they fine out of the box?

Genuine parts is best. Quantum Synta Gold oil is perfect for you. Spark plugs are pre gapped and the sump plug is the same as used by 90% of the VAG range.

4.5 Litres I change my oil every 5000 miles and I use Castrol Edge 5W 30. Expensive I know as it is longlife but I have always been fussy about oil and like to use the very best.

Plugs can be got at euro parts, they do Bosch ones for about £17.

As Ross says, use the OE stuff it works out just as cheap if you know where to get it from... Another vote for Synta Gold oil as well
