Help with some fault codes

Featured Replies

Hello,

My Father had an EPC light come up once on his W Reg, 1.4 MPI Fabia Comfort, so I used my OBD-II interface and VAG-COM and got some fault codes. How do I interpret these codes?

Control Module Part Number: 047 906 033 A

Component and/or Version: 1,4l SIMOS3PA 00HSSJ48

Software Coding: 00061

Work Shop Code: WSC 13765

Additional Info: *********** ****************

2 Faults Found:

16825 - EVAP Emission Control Sys: Incorrect Flow

P0441 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

16955 - Brake Switch (F): Implausible Signal

P0571 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

Is the EVAP Emission control something to do with either the Catalytic converter or oxygen sensor?

I appreciate any help.

Ian

Any symptoms apart from the EPC light being on? Looking at past threads, a faulty brake light switch trigger ECU problems since it feeds a signal to it. Maybe it is as simple as that or maybe 2 unrelated faults.

The EPC light only came on once.

We have noticed a slight kick back from the engine when decelerating. Trying to think if I eased off the throttle or used the brake.

Am I right in assuming that the brake light switch is the one by the foot brake pedal?

I had the same code 16955 Brake switch implausable signal

on the wifes Fabia 1.4 mpi last week

Swopped the brake light switch under brake pedal seems to be cured now (needs a bit of lower dash unbolting but not a hard job)

Hope that helps

Steve

Can also happen if you double-declutch a downshift (or perform two consecutive downshifts), blipping the throttle on the change down whilst continuously braking at the same time :D

However, because the EPC light is on, I don't think that the above is your problem - sounds like there is a real problem with one of the switches.

Thanks guys.

I'll go round the dealer tomorrow and order a new brake switch.

See how it goes from there.

Have you checked all the brake light bulbs are OK? We had this fault code when one of the brake light bulbs failed. Replaced the bulb and cleared the fault code.

PS our car is a diesel and the bulb failing caused the glow plug light to flash whilst the car was being driven.

No problems since it happened about 6 months ago.
