Aerial Problem

Featured Replies

I now have the Fabia estate which is so high the aerial fouls the garage door. It can be unscrewed and put down but not detached. Could not get any sensible practical advice from professionals so got out the hacksaw and removed 60mm. Now I get Radio 1 bursting through when TP is on. Can this be the reason or do others have this happen?

Anyone know how to fit a new short aerial?

Antennas are fixed lengths depending on the bandwidths they are meant to receive and the receiver specs. You will need to get a new aerial. Even the stubby aerials have the same length of wire inside them as much larger aerials. Someone will come along soon to tell you where to find a replacement...

Not always the same length. It has to be a multiple of the wavelength you are recieving (obviously varies a little bit, you recieve different stations, but in the same sort of range). If you were to take it exactly in half it *may* make it better (and lets face it, its buggered already)

How about rigging up a bit of fishing line, tied tight from tip to base to bend it out the way of the garage door?

Thanks for comments. Shall try making length halve the original. Tried changing angle but not possible to find compromise position between closing garage door and open tailgate.

Try a £1.00 shop my local one has multi fit alloy aerials for £1.00 they are about a hands length so not to good at picking up signals.

Try a few on-line supliers for choice?
