De-cat + STandard Turbo + Dragon Tuning Box

Featured Replies

Would a de-cat cause problems on a fabia vrs on the standard turbo if the car has NOT been remapped, but is instead using a dragon tuning box?

I have read about problems with de cat and remap, but I assume this is down the extra pressure a remap puts on the turbo, which a tuning box does not.

What are the advantages of a decat? Does it free up any horsepower / sound nice?

Disadvantages?

i have run my vrs with a miltek decat exhaust standard turbo and a dragon box

and i got a bit of clutch slip if i pushed it on a bit at low revs

unfortunatly the dragon box let all its blue smoke escape and it dont work any more :thumbdwn:

so im back to a decat and no clutch slip but still plenty of smiles ;)

edit forgot to say the exhaust sounds almost standard untill its under load

but you can hear the turbo spool up much beter :D:D

TB doesn't push the turbo so there is something there to think on.

The decat will give you very little (Not that you would notice) if any increase in power. What it will do it let the turbo spool up a little quicker making it slightly more responsive. You can hear the turbo a bit more too which is nice if you like that sort of thing.

The best option would be to get a decat then a nice custom map to go round it.

let all its blue smoke escape what do you mean?

let all its blue smoke escape what do you mean?

Like other technical enhancements documented elsewhere, tuning boxes operate by injecting a special blue smoke into the electrical circuits of the car. When this reaches the engine is gets burned and is emitted from the exhaust as black smoke / soot. This makes the car go faster.

Some defective boxes were charged with insufficient blue smoke during the manufacturing process and and a warranty recall was issued for specific seriel numbers.

HTH.

lo m8 its woo from ccuk :D

im getting my fabia in about 2 months time im getting the SE version if i can find one i like.

I know its a different car but i wouldnt say a remap and a de cat is a problem as long as its a custom map for your car (after its de cated)
