Fabia towbar

Featured Replies

Anyone fitted a towar to a Fabia? Do you need to cut the bumper or is that only necasary for the VRs? Are the electrics multiplexed (One touch indicators on mine so I'm hinking possibly this is necassary?).

Cheers for any advice,

Rob

Thanks. How would I be able to tell if the lights were multiplexed?

Would there be anything wrong with just using a multiplexor anyway for peace of mind?

The bar arrived today and I have had a look at the lights and decided they are not multiplexed as the loom just plugs straight into them. I don't suppose anyone know which colour wire is for which light (on the loom) . The only thing worrying me is that on one of the referenced links, someone mentions an upgraded flasher relay? What's that all about?

Is there already a hole in the boot floor for the trailer wiring cable to enter the car, or do I need to drill one myself?

Oh and one other thing, anyone know what size torx bits I need to unscrew the bumper bolts?

TIA,

Rob

Well I decided to bypass the lights anyway, just to be safe. Today I got this reply from Skoda from an enquiry I sent last week as to whether this was necassary or not:

This goes against what 2 profressional towbar fitters have told me - rear lights not multiplexed. Also I can't reconcile their statement that the towbar is 'plug and play' as there is no socket for the electrics anywhere and the fuse location has no connectors.

Fortunately, I appear not to have yet had any dire consequences from splicing into the wiring loom, not that I expected any.

I also don't understand their threat about warranty implications from the bypassed loom - the whole point of bypassing it is to avoid damaging it! Presumably at the very worst the warranty is only now invalid for problems with the rear lights.

Quite tempted to reply to them and ask where the mystical plug and play socket is!

[edit] sorry, don't know where all those stars havecoem from!
