Headlight wiring??

Featured Replies

I have a question I hope someone can help me with.

I have bought a set of the 'Audi' style LED strips (keep your comments to urself :P ) to mount in my bumper which come with 2 wires..

I've had a quick look at my sidelights, and there's 2 wires coming out of it, live and neutral I would imagine....

Does it matter which way you wire them?

Reason being, I will use scotchlock style connectors, and once there on, there on..

Thanks!

If they are LEDs then yes you will need to get the+ / - the right way round, otherwise they won't light

Acording to Mr Haynes the colours are:

Left side light:

+ve = Grey & Black, -ve = Brown

Right side light:

+ve = Grey & Red, -ve = Brown

Make sure you post some pics so we can all see if they are as 'interesting' as they sound!

After looking at my led strips, there is no difference in the wiring, i.e no indication of Pos. and Neg.

Now im a little stumped, I dont want to wire it the wrong way cos that will bugger the sidelight wires wont it? (If I use scotchlock connectors)

HELP!

I'd try taking out the side light conector (as if your changing the bulb) and hold the wires onto the contacts & see which way round it works.

It may be there's some clever circuit in there which changes the polairty round regardless of the way it's been wired in - Did they not come with any instructions?

Nope, no instructions...

Good idea regarding the wiring, obvious really, just worried I might break something as im doing it... Probably worrying over nothing..!

u can get them off Ebay for about a tenner, they look very halfords to me

Ender,

If you had read the post properly before giving your opinion, you would know I have already bought them.

Therefore making your post no help whatsoever, (plus I really don't care wether you think it looks 'halfords' or not)

If you've got a 9v battery (from a smoke alarm or similar) you can strip the ends of the wires and test them for correct polarity using that. It's easier than mucking about under the bonnet and can be done in the kitchen over a nice cup of tea!

i was replying to other people who hadnt seen them mate so chill ur *** out jeez u'll fit right ****ing in on here ******

Hmmmm.

Anyway, fitted them yesterday, took my time to do a tidy job, and I think it looks great.

Will post up a pic in a few days when I can be bothered.
