Air con noise

Featured Replies

Hey guys...

A few months ago I started having some intermitent problems on my 2002 Fabia's aircon. I sorted it out with the help of ap0gee's DYI on the Evap Temp Sensor (thanks by the way... great tut! )

Then, as the car has almost 6 years I thought I'd get it regassed. This was like a couple of weeks ago.

Yesterday, when I was coming home from work, I stopped at a red light and noticed that the air con started making this strange noise, like it's engine had gone mad. As I pulled away from the light and increased the engine's revs, the air con noise got louder, as if it's connected to the car's engine somehow (is it?). Really sounds like a second engine running. When I drop the engine's revs, the sound will drop as well. Very weird sound...

Could anyone help me on this? Can the guys from the garage have done something wrong?

Thanks in advance! :)

If it sounds like a second engine and it is definately "to do" with the A/C then that can only mean the compressor. I'd take it back and ask your re-gasser to check the running pressures and if necessary remove the complete charge weigh it for referance and load the correct weight of refrigerant. Did he add any oil for good measure or just refrigerant.

Thanks for your help.

Honestly, I don't even know what they did. I'm guessing they only regassed it, 'cause that's what I asked for.

I'll drop by and ask them to have a look.
