Steering Angle Sensor ?

Featured Replies

Hi guys...

Just got my car diagnosed with a Vag-Com.

It appears to be pointing to the Steering Angle Sensor, I was just wondering if you guys had any thoughts on the matter.

Oah and one other strange thing. The Vag-Com software for whatever reason couldn't connect with my ECU (at least I'm assuming that " 01 " is the ECU.) Again any thoughts would be helpful.

Thanks.

Address 44 -------------------------------------------------------

Controller: 6Q0 423 156 E

Component: Lenkhilfe 0001

Coding: 00110

Shop #: WSC 00000

3 Faults Found:

00566 - Steering Assistance Operation

27-10 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent

01288 - Terminal 30: Steering Assist

07-10 - Signal to Low - Intermittent

00816 - Power Steering Sensor (G250)

29-10 - Short to Ground - Intermittent

I'd say to reset them and then give it a drive.

I'm no expert but from what I see there I'd say the pump may be U/S as well as the sensor.

Sometimes codes appear if battery power is a little low.

I had this problem before swapping batteries.

I also get the flickering headlights (which everything I've read points to the sensor).

Think I'd best swap the sensor first and take it from there.

Touch wood it'll not be the pump.

That's what I would recomend myself, clear the codes and check again later then go for the sensor first.

A Pump is over £500 !!!

Further to the above information.

Upon collection of the sensor I had to pay a surcharge of £35.25 !!!!

Got it fitted today and the fault is still present :(

So although Vag-Com claimed my sensor was broken, either there was something else faulty too, or the sensor had nothing wrong with it in the first place.

I've just returned from my main dealer where I deposited the old (presumably faulty) sensor and had a refund on the surcharge. :)

My local garage put the car on VAG-COM and came up with the following error codes.

00566 - Operation Not A Plausable Signal - Intermittent.

01288 - Supply Voltage Terminal 30 to low signal too low - Intermittent.

Now I was only given those codes (and text) written on the back of a posted-note, so haven't seen a printout, so have no idea what section the codes belong too. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will have an idea.

The Voltage Terminal sounds like Alternator to me.

No idea what the other one is.

Any ideas anyone?

Ideally you'd want to know what controller they were on.

Well I've googled the codes and they point to fuses & battery. Both of which are good.

So not sure what to do next now...

Looking like a pump then.

Don't suppose anyone's got a spare pump loafing about doing nothing? :D
