I will be picking up a 55 plate octavia 1.9 105 PD classic estate with 64K tomorrow,

Having owned a Superb that my wife now has and it covered 190K before she took it over.

What problems should I check for with the octavia,

The superb did between 45 and 70 MPG sometimes more:) what could I expect with this one.

Have the gearboxes been sorted?? I know the MK1 SDI took a dislike to them

What are the timing belt change intervals

There aren,t really any gearbox issues with these only the DMF like the rest.

Cambelt change is 80K on one of these IIRC.

Iam getting recently around 58mpg driving round town and have had it upto 64mpg oneday but don,t see that much at the mo.

problems to look for...

wheel bearings

windscreen de-lamination

small electric faults(cigar lighter, rear windows, airbag warning light)

make sure radio is "re-flashed" else battery drain

used to get about 55 @ 70mph on a run...(half laden, good tyre pressures)

50 at about 85mph( in europe, of course! ;-) )

40 -45 over all (town and country)
