In 35 years () driving I have had my fair share of encounters with idiots. Rear ended twice, side swiped twice, pulled out in front of twice.

Of those only 1 resulted in a write off (well it was an 11 year Cortina Mk3!)

Each time, like you, I was absolutely gutted that my pride and joy had been wrecked but each time I have been amazed at the quality of the job done by the body shop and after driving the repaired car for a few days have forgotten it was ever damaged.

i think it all stems back to the rover i had never seemed right (and the micky mouse garage who repaired never seemed right either). but yeah ive had my fair share too, some being rather spectacular!!

I know this thread is old, so I thought i use it as its connected. Just got off the phone to the insurers to be told that they are settling 50/50 as there was no other witnesses and my photos showing her skid marks could be anyones:mad: they couldnt care less that she was texting and driving and dont understand that the police would not attend unless someone was injured

I have asked them how this now affects my insurance for next renewal and they said it wont affect it even through i now have a claim against my name, cos i have protected no claims my insurance wont go up. Have mentioned that surely as i have an accident now marked on my policy that it will make me a higher risk and therefore quote me a higher price, but been assured it wont.

God I am fuming, just hope i come across her and her mums car crunched up (obviously the driver not hurt) as ive seen her driving around since and still is driving and texting:thumbdwn:

Irritating I know, but ecomonically the company can't afford to run it. You could pursue the case personally to keep costs down though.

i was thinking of writing to the girls mother who the car belongs to explaining what happened and see what will happen, but i think personally its one of those things you put down to experience.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, can't believe the police wouldn't come out if she was texting and driving, you think it would have been easy to prove time of accident against her mobile phone records. And as you said write to the BITC*ES mum and tell her she was texting and driving and you have also seen her doing it since the accident that really is extracting the bodily fluids, if it gets her stopped from using the car that would be some satisfaction and you might save someone else from the same or even worse i would also be reporting it to the POLICE. T***S like her think they are above the LAW. A photo of her texting while driving would be GOOD. Hope your cars as good as new when it's done mate.
