Teleatlas Map Update (MFD2)

Featured Replies

I have just had mine today delivered from Bluespot for £109

Unfortunatly when I travel on an A road (for example the A473) the speech says follow the 'B'473

The map and maxidot displays A473 correctly???

I have tried to contact both Bluespot and Teleatlas but both run standard office hours - so one for tomorrow.

Can anyone check if there's pronouces A Roads correctly.

I have spoken to Teleatlas who are not aware of the issue, but will investigate.

I have also spoken to the retailer I purchased the CD from (Blue Spot) who tell me they will arrange for a full refund as they don't expect the CD to be at fault and sending a replacement will produce the same results.

so reading between the lines it may be an issue with my MFD2 ?

I will now order one direct from Teleatlas and see what happens unless anyone is experiencing the same issue ?

What happens if you travel on a b road does it say c by any chance.

The audio on the teleatlas disc (cd) is recorded as 150 odd sections of sound files ,try changing languages to something else and then back to english ,or even changing to another country map as this causes a reload of the speech clips and this may not have happened when you loaded in the disc and they may have different ident numbers on the new disc to the old disc

M roads are pronounced correctly and I haven't been on a B road - cant think of any close by that are known as B something. They tend to have correct names such as Cardiff Road so dont get spoken at all.

I have seen another thread where someone has the same CD but their System Info has completly different numbers.

Does anyone know how to Reset the MFD2 ?

There is a Skoda MFD2 version of the "three-finger-salute" (ie CTRL-ALT-DEL)

To force full factory reset do the following:

Press three buttons simultaneouly for 2 secs (see diagram below for button numbers):

Beamed crotchet/musical notes symbol[3] + TELE[15] + Status Button/lines of cars symbol[10]

22718.attach

Trust me a reset of the MFD doesnt help. I am now on my second set of discs from Skoda (TeleAtlas) this set has some "A" roads as "B"roads and even some Motorways announced as "B" roads.

I have started legal action against Skoda as I have been waiting 9 months, does anyone fancy joining me we might get more action !!!

The reset didn't help.

Changing languages from English to another and back had no effect.

I have now reverted to going back to using my old 2007/2008 CD and have no problems with A Road speach.

As I don't travel much outside 30 miles of my house I don't tend to use it very often, so its not a massive deal to me - just annoyance really.

I know someone else on here has the latest disc, but has different System versions then mine and has not confirmed if they have the same problem.

Have Skoda updated your system versions ?

My new one is messed up aswell (2008/2009 UK+MRE+iTMC)

I phoned Teleatlas and they are aware of new disc (few weeks old) is messed up and are investigating.

They offered to take my email and send a update/new CD when it is sorted.

I will probably just send it back to dealer (Blue Spot aswell)

Teleatlas 0208 230 3188

You've got to wonder just how much testing gets done before these new disks get shipped out.

I appreciate that it's impossible for them to actually drive the whole UK road network* looking for issues, but they must have a test harness which allows them to simulate this stuff.

P**s poor, really.

When I order my next car, I'll probably go with the Columbus, but only because it integrates so nicely with the rest of the car. Otherwise, I'd just stick with TomTom. The maps are way more up to date, and you get full postcode entry. Nuff said.

* I understand that they do actually drive the roads when creating new mapping data.
