Tuning 100 hp 1.9 TDi

Featured Replies

Hi all

Haven't posted on here for ages but keep looking in.

Regretted getting rid of my VRS a couple of years back and was going to buy another but to be honest prices at the moment are daft. It was an excellent car but IMHO not worth the money being asked for at the moment, although someone is buying them. Anyone had a 100 bhp chipped to 130/135 and if yes is it anywhere near as good as the standard VRS engine wise? I had a dragon box on my VRS so probably had around the 160 ish mark.

I know I'll get some stick about the prices buts that my opinion.

Yep , a remapped PD100 will give pretty similar performance to a standard PD130.

Obviously you'll miss out on the 6 speed gearbox and the VRS looks , but you can save a decent amount of money

:iagree:

I had a remapped PD100 and they will give similar performance to a standard VRS. I had no problems with the engine despite chipping the car at 90,000 miles and driving it fairly hard for another 30,000. Insurance is a lot cheaper which is another bonus

I have the PD100

Mine was mapped , but detuned for the fuel economy

141bhp now and returns 60ish to the gallon

Great car

It also has the Koni STR.T kit on with both ARB`s and handles like a dream too

Sarah

i dont think the prices are that bad,if you look around

See my sig for my current level of tune from pd100 tuning. :D

 I'm not sure you can call yours a PD100 anymore

Trouble is really, to tune a pd100 without changing the engine like I did, you need to bolt on all the pd130 bits and pieces. So you kind of turn the pd100 into a pd130 through hardware modifications. :)

The only difference is you still retain a pd100 engine number on the head (unless you also do the recommend swapping out of a complete pd130 head onto the pd100 block - as it's a lot stronger :D)

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I've been looking for quite a while but still think prices of the VRS are on the high side.

Probably go for the 100hp as I still think the fabia is quality car. I have a 05 Fiesta at the moment and it doesn't come anywhere near. :thumbdwn:

Hey

I test drove a 105 Sport from the dealers in Gloucester

I must admit , I did not think that the car was soooo much better than mine

In fact my car was head and shoulders better than the new one

Mine has 128k miles on the clock and has been lowered with both the ARB`s on too

But mine felt so much better

So dont go thinking that a PD100 is no where near as good as a vRS , as it is not

My car was test driven by a customer of ours on Saturday , he said that the handling was ALOT better than a standard vRS too

So do not be dismayed about not having a vRS , as you can get the 100PD , put some mods on and get a nicer , better handling car

Sarah

I have the PD100.

Chipping it will make it as nippy as a VRS.

You can pretty much keep up to about 100mph.

but then...

well...

its a little embracing.

but with time will get upto 136mph (spedo) 126mph (sat nav).

i recon with bigger wheels you could get a bit more, but i only have standard 14" at the moment. (NEED BIGGER)

Obviously it wont handle like a VRS without bigger wheels and lowered and stiffened suspension... BUT

Its still a **** load of fun to drive.

People dont expect a normal skoda fabia to be so quick.

If you do get one... 2 things i advise.

Remap straight away.

and also change the exhaust to the pd100 sports exhaust made by skoda, just means slightly better throttle responce which is nice to have, and looks as good as the vrs IMO.

I wouldnt say a VRS is too much at the moment though.?? I been looking at upgrading mine, 56 plate 20,000 miles. You can pick up a 54 plate with 30,000miles for around £7000 trade and £6200 private.
