My 2.5 TDI never has an oil top up as I have the car serviced annually with an oil and filter change at the 6 month stage. I do about 5 to 6k between oil changes (12k per annum).

I'm assuming that this is normal consumption, and that at some stage over the next 6k miles or so the Maxidot will tell me it's first service time.

I'm at 40+k atm, and never needed to add any. I'm sure you're right about the service though.
