Door stuck shut

Featured Replies

Can anyone help please, 2003 Octavia, only had it 5 months. Just happened today.

My RH rear door will not open, We tried pulling the ouside handle and the inside handle at the same time but it will not move, as soon as I leave loose of the inside handle the indicator button goes back down. Can the panel be taken off with the door closed. ? Any Ideas.

I think Bpm had a similiar problem, the door card had to be cut IIRC Control module issue.

As a matter of interest did you get in the passangers side door to try open it? Did you leave it open or close it? Does it lock itself when its closed? Maybe try leaving it open then try.

What is the door card and IIRC control.

The passenger door light switch has never worked, but the central locking was fine until now

I did not have much response on this one. No one seemed to have the answers. For those that entcounter this problem ( it's not uncommon) The door panel cannot be removed because the screws are on the side.

I put my Octavia into the Skoda dealer and they fixed it in two hours free of charge under warranty; they would not tell me how, only that they had special Skoda tools to remove the screw (pull the other one). I was worried in case they had to get the angle grinder at this. I notice that the hinges are acessible when the front door is open but they said that they did not remove the hinges. I would like to know how they did it in case it happens again after warranty.

What is the door card

The whole panel thats connected to the door, what they had to remove

IIRC

If I Recall Correctly

control module
Its what does all the operations of the door I suppose.

IIRC someone mentioned to me before that they get water ingress.

I used to get intermittent issues like this until I finally got round to sticking down some of the rubber seals around the driver's side front door that were a bit loose. Lots better now, although I need to maybe do a better job than the double sided tape I tried initially. So, water ingress issue in all probability in my case.

The door panel CAN be removed with the door shut. Although the screws are not accessible, the clips which the screws go into can be pulled out of the door with a sharp tug. I don't know how easy it would be to smash the catch once you have access, my guess would be... Not very!

You need to remove the interior handle cover which hides a screw or two, then remove the tweeter and window switch. I think you have to remove the rear seat, too. Once you have this lot out of the way, a sharp (careful) tug should pull the clips out of the door.

I had the same problem with one of mine, the deadlock was sticking. I was lucky and after a few locks/unlocks, it released.

Thanks all. As my Oxctavia is a 2003, I am not impressed that it gave this kind of trouble already and is putting me off Skoda. In 5 months I have had a headlight motor replaced, a HT coil, and now a lock.

i had the same problem the passenger door locked shut for about 6 months then started working again fine. Got her indoors to climb over if she wanted the door open i told her to have it fixed mine was fine lol. Now the back near sider has done the same. Goes in tomorrow for it fixing.

Just found out its the bushes in the motor that have gone hit it with a hammer now it works ok. But i've disconnected it from the central looking just on the safe side, so now just opens with the handle on the inside. New motor £90 ish.
