Geometry Settings

Featured Replies

Hi to all,

I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction? I'm having a laser geometry check/adjustment on my vRS estate (18" optional wheels) tomorrow and wondered if anyone could point me in the direction of the optimum settings. I've had a good search on Briskoda but couldn't find the full settings (hope I'm not being dense?!).

My car is brand new (600 miles only!) but it has a slight pull/emphasis to the left which is more than just a camber sensitivity. I've adjusted tyre pressures also in accordance with advice found on Briskoda to no avail.

Hoping to get some photos up soon also! Love the car in every other way, just want to get the steering bang on!

Thanks very much for any help.

Steve.

The carage should have all the needed info, they get it from the factory. I had a laser alignment done also on my car after 1500 miles, it was very unstable and twitchy above 50mph. Now it is just perfect. Camber was off, as was toe-in. Straight from the factory. IMO they should adjust these at the dealers before they give you the car. I'm not the only one who has had this issue, it looks like they rarely are spot on in VAG cars when they leave the factory.

They'll give you print after the alignment has been done, you can see the old settings, new settings and the recommended settings on there.

Don't worry about it, they'll know what to do.

Thanks Jonah. :)

I was wondering though, if there was an optimum set-up other than standard factory settings for the vRS? My Evo 8 used to be set-up at Xtreme with a "fast-road" spec geometry set-up which was significantly different to factory settings. Just wondering if there was an equivalent "alternative set-up" for the vRS on 18" wheels?

On the one hand, it's reassuring to know that this is a pretty common thing... You would think it would be bang-on at delivery from the dealer, but it seems not...?

Best wishes,

Steve.

I took a note of the settings from there last year when I got mine done due to twitchy handling and excessive wear on inner edges of rear tyres.

When I got my before and after print outs it showed that the skoda dealer who I explictly asked to check this before I got the car were either imcompetent or liars as they were well out from the recommended settings before, and the after settings matched up to the ones listed above :)

It transformed the handling and tyre wear now even :)

this is whats being done to my car when it goes in to be repaired. cant wait.

Quick update - Had the geometry measurement and it shows that the camber all 'round is out (all 4 wheels) and front right caster also! The guys at the garage said that it wasn't a "bad" set-up, i.e. within broad tolerance settings, but could definitely be improved. They recommended bringing it back for adjustment once it has done a few more miles (only done 600 at present) to allow springs to settle and with a full tank of fuel (required for accurate readings).

Just wondering if there are any warranty issues with a non-Skoda dealer adjusting camber settings? I believe the sub-frame has to be adjusted to do this? Could this be something that could affect the warranty?

Thanks very much for the input! :)

Surely this should be done under warranty anyway? You've just bought a brand new car for a considerable amount of money and should expect it to be set up correctly. I'd get it straight back to the Skoda dealer and explain the problem and get them to fix it. I know I would
