RoofBars

Featured Replies

Guys,

Just been to pick up my latest fleabay purchase of a set of genuine Skoda Thule roof bars for the trusty tank.

Having got them home I've now noticed that they are for the Octy 2 combi.

Is there any difference to the the fitting or is this just a marketing ploy?

ANy answers greatly appreciated.

As I understand it Thule make different lengths (and types) of cross bar and differing brackets to suit different vehicles by mixing and matching the components.

In the case of estate car roof rails, i think that they are pretty much universal (although they may not fit the profile of the rail 100%) basically if they are securely clamped on they should be ok.

I have an old pretty crappy set of Peugeot cross bars that i have used on a MK4 Golf and Mondeo estates no problem, I was recently gifted a nice set of Audi A4 alloy bars which i plan to use on mk1 Octavia

Hope this helps

Thanks Frankie. I must admit that I don't think that threre is much diference in the profile of the Mk1 to Mk2 rails so I might just get away with it, unless anybody on here tells me otherwise.

Have you tried fitting them to your car, and if so do they fit ok?

Regards

Frank
